Rachel Collier-Wilson is a multidisciplinary artist based in Norwich, recognised for their bold and expressive line work. With a background in printmaking with A BA (hons) from Central Saint Martins and an MA in Fine Art from Norwich University of the Arts, Rachel’s practice spans drawing, painting, printmaking, and wire sculpture.
Their work is grounded in a love of drawing, often exploring gender identity, sexuality, and lived experience, while also drawing inspiration from nature and the LGBTQ+ community. Balancing illustrative depictions of wildlife with narrative portraiture, Rachel’s art is unified by an energetic and distinctive line. They have exhibited widely across the UK and internationally, including in Boston and Auckland.
Rachel curates Queer Arts Festival, QueerFest , whichcoincides with LGBTQ+ History Month every February.
Rachel grew up in the Peak District and has lived in London, Boston, New Zealand and now Norwich. All of these experiences also feed into their creativity.
Surface tension suggests both resilience and fragility: a force that holds, yet can be broken. For queer bodies and identities, how we appear becomes a manifesto — a way of living visibly in a world that often politicises our existence.
Under the Skin celebrates four years of queer artistic practice shaped by the Queerfest community.
